Friday February 24th at 8.00pm
“This award winning film, made in the late 80’s, tells the story of a small Christian community set in Jutland in northern Denmark towards the end of the nineteenth century, and the impact on its life when it gives shelter to a French woman, Babette, fleeing life in revolutionary Paris. Settled into the community’s life for many years as a cook and housekeeper, no one knows that in her former life she was one of Paris’s most celebrated chefs. One day, as the 100th Anniversary of the birth of the Community’s Founder fast approaches, she proposes that she cook a celebratory dinner in honour of the occasion. No one is ready for what then follows!
